Texas Dept. Of Public Safety Says This Year Is Going To Be Catastrophic On The Border

Christopher Olivarez, Texas Department of Public Safety, stated that while “we thought that last year was complete chaos at the border,” but that “this year is going to be catastrophic.” He also said that “we have the most unsecure border we’ve seen in decades.”

For fiscal year 2021, there were more than 397,000 encounters between February and October. This year, fiscal year 2022, the same timeframe, five month, October through February, saw over 837,000 encounters. This shows that even though last year was chaotic, this year will be chaotic. These numbers will surpass those of last year. We need to be careful, but this is a very — national security risk, not just to Texas but to the whole country.
