Regime Rejects Lib Megadonor For Saying Nobody Cares About China’s Uyghur Genocide

Biden’s Administration is rebuking a liberal megadonor, who said to a podcast audience that “nobody really cares” about China’s genocide against the Uyghurs.

Chamath Palihapitiya was a billionaire liberal megadonor, and co-owner of the Golden State Warriors. He told his audience that no one cares about the Uyghurs’ situation and that the United States was not in a position to lecture China on human rights.

“Nobody cares what’s happening with the Uyghurs. Palihapitiya stated that you bring it up because your heart is in it. Okay? It is the lowest of all the things I care about.”

Palihapitiya said, “I care about how our economy will turn if China invades Taiwan.” Climate change is something I am concerned about. I am concerned about America’s decrepit and crippling health care system. If you ask me, would I care about a small segment of the population in another country? Only when we are able to take care of our own health will I place them above us.

“And I believe that a lot of people believe that,” Palihapitiya said. I apologize if that is a difficult truth to hear. But every time I claim that I care about the Uyghurs, I am lying if I really don’t care. So I prefer not to lie to you and tell the truth. It’s not something that I prioritize,” Palihapitiya said.

Washington Free Beacon reports that Palihapitiya has “deep ties” to the Biden administration. Before joining the Biden administration, Samantha Power and Samantha Blinken, Secretary of State, were advisers to Palihapitiya’s venture capital firm Social Capital. In 2020, Palihapitiya donated $250,000 to Biden Victory Fond.”

A Biden spokeswoman stated that Palihapitiya’s comments were rejected by the administration in a statement to The Free Beacon.

The spokeswoman stated that the Biden Administration rejected the statement and would continue to hold the PRC responsible. The spokeswoman cited the support of the Uyghur Forced Labor Protection Act by the Biden administration and reiterated Biden’s commitment to “ensure that all global supply chains are completely free from forced labor.”

The Golden State Warriors wanted to create space between themselves and Palihapitiya.

The Free Beacon reported that Palihapitiya gave $750,000 to Schumer’s Senate Majority PAC during the 2020 election cycle, in addition to his six-figure Biden campaign donation. “The liberal billionaire also donated tens of thousands to the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign.”

Palihapitiya also questioned China’s claim to be a dictatorship. The Warriors co-owner, after one of his cohorts, called China a “brutal dictatorship”, pushed back.

Palihapitiya stated that China is not a dictatorship in the sense that you would like.

He said, “This issue could be small data points that are extrapolated in order to create a narrative which may not be true.”
