According to a report from the New York City’s Department of Health, hundreds of people were given expired Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines at the former NFL Experience building in Times Square between June 5 and June 10. It was unclear by the DOH when the doses expired or how the recipients will proceed with the remaining shots.
The news comes as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he would be lifting all remaining COVID-19 restrictions since the state has reached its 70% herd immunity threshold.
“While there is no safety risk for the patients, the re-administration is being carried out to ensure that the individuals are fully protected. Those patients have received e-mails, phone calls, and are also being sent letters to make sure they are aware of this situation,” said a Vaccination Services spokesperson.
Vaccination Services was the company contracted to administer the vaccine batches. They said they have called and advised the patients that there is “no danger” from the vaccine they received, but have been replaced as the operator of the site. The NYC Department of Health sent an email alerting patients to return for another vaccine since the administered vaccine “had been in the freezer beyond the approved time frame.”
The dad of two teenage daughters who were given the shot said he was outraged by the email and phone call. He said that the guy who called wasn’t even a doctor and that in a 6 day period time, nobody noticed that patients were being given expired COVID-19 vaccine shots.
The email reads that “there should be no adverse health consequences from the vaccine already received. It recommends another shot of the vaccine and that the previous dose administered in error will not count toward a completed vaccine series. Pfizer is currently a two-dose vaccine.
And while New York is using up their expired vaccines, the state of Michigan has thousands of unwanted COVID-19 vaccine doses set to expire. There’s even a bit of talk that Canadian officials are asking for them. So much for “vaccine confidence” in Michigan. Residents don’t see the point in getting the jab if they still have to follow draconian mask mandates and lockdowns. Michigan is still one of the strictest states in the nation fighting spiking case numbers alongside harsh COVID-19 restrictions.
Michigan state officials have stated that it is against Centers for Disease Control & Prevention policy to ship extra vaccine doses to Canada, but have confirmed a total of 240,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine set to expire. There are 50,000 Moderna vaccines set to expire between June 20 and August 8, and 250,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine set to expire between June 30 and July 31.
Democrats previously criticized Trump for not ordering more vaccines and now states are dumping them out by the truckloads. Trump is a good businessman because he ordered what the country needed at the time while Biden ordered what he wanted to waste more taxpayer money.
