In a recent piece published by The Atlantic, writer Edward-Isaac Dovere reveals that Vice President Kamala Harris keeps tabs on reporters she deems “hostile” to her. The Atlantic goes into detail about the terms journalists use that offend her, such as the word “cautious” and its synonyms. The article says VP Harris tracks all of the ‘political players’ and ‘reporters’ she doesn’t think fully understand her. Between her cackling at inappropriate times, jokes about killing former President Trump, and dismissing anything that questions her socialist agenda, it’s clear to tell that Harris is the hostile one.
“The vice president and her team tend to dismiss reporters. Trying to get her to take a few questions after events are treated as an act of impish aggression. And Harris herself tracks political players and reporters whom she thinks don’t fully understand her or appreciate her life experience,” Dovere wrote.
The Atlantic cited numerous examples of the hostility between Harris and the press, including how often Harris mentions when a Washington Post reporter mistook the cheer of the historic Black sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha for “screeches” and the time when Vogue magazine employees put her on the cover of its February issue with a photo that both sides had not agreed upon.
Harris even monitors the words journalists use to describe her, saying how she doesn’t like the words “cautious,” “careful,” “guarded,” and “hesitant.”
Between her sparring-with-journalist skills and how she has appeared on television, a YouGov America survey interviewed 1,500 US Adult citizens between May 1-4 and found how unlikeable Harris really is. Nine in 10 Americans (90%) voted that they have an opinion of the Vice President, with 41% viewing her favorably and 48% having an unfavorable opinion.
The numbers don’t come as a surprise, especially since she has refused to visit the southern border despite being tasked with handling the migrant crisis. Texas Sen. John Cornyn said he hasn’t heard from the vice president’s office despite the border legislation he’s working on. “It appears to me like President Biden handed her a hand grenade and pulled the pin and she was quick to get rid of it as fast as she could,” he said.
The Atlantic even suggests that VP Harris lacks the political abilities to gain the presidency, which differs from those who found her to be too ambitious to be Biden’s running mate. Many noted concerns that they didn’t want Biden to be overshadowed.
“Some [aides] have been surprised at how much work there is to be done, whether that’s briefing her on certain policy issues or helping her improve her sparring-with-journalists skills. At times, she comes off as so uninteresting that television producers have started to wonder whether spending thousands of dollars to send people on trips with her is worthwhile, given how little usable material they get out of it,” the article reads.
The Washington Free Beacon even compared Harris to Hillary Clinton, noting that they both are possessed by ruthless ambition, yet lack the necessary skills to succeed in politics at the national level (along with their shared knack for unsettling laughter). Trump even imitated her laughs in an interview with 60 Minutes and asked what’s wrong with her and why she keeps laughing at very serious questions.
Critics of Harris also note that she makes a few blank statements, tells whomever she’s meeting with how she’s going to bring their stories back to Washington and then is quickly out of sight again. They note that VP Harris is too busy laughing off at a humanitarian crisis to secure the border and respond to the needs of the American people.
Instead of going to the border or doing her job as vice president, she’s seemingly busy keeping tabs on reporters she doesn’t find friendly. If she doesn’t like certain synonyms, she might want to add “narcissistic” to her list. She doesn’t govern – she keeps a list of people she can intimidate.
