Iowa Gov. Is Fighting Against Biden’s Unconstitutional Plan For Gun Reform

The White House is quickly trying to craft a handful of executive orders for President Biden to sign regarding gun reform. One of the topics being discussed was ‘ghost guns’ which deals with cases against firearm dealers and manufacturers, particularly those coming from private sales. And while the radical left looks to strip constitutional rights away from law-abiding citizens who want to protect their families, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds just signed a new bill that would protect those specific Second Amendment rights.

The bill, House File 756, was passed by a 60-37 vote on March 22 and goes into effect on July 1. It will allow law-abiding individuals to carry a concealed weapon without first obtaining a permit from the government. This makes Iowa one of the 19 states where citizens do not need to carry a permit to carry a gun for self-defense.

“While we will never be able to outlaw or discourage every single bad person from possessing a weapon, we can ensure that law-abiding citizens have full access to their constitutional rights while keeping Iowans safe,” Reynolds said.

Gov. Reynolds said the law points to an individual’s mental illness, instead, and that the state would be taking greater steps to inform law enforcement about their background checks. Reynold’s said that the law would look to make it harder for criminals to obtain guns rather than impede the waiting process for those who simply want protection. Individuals would go through an instant background check and follow federal legislation to buy from licensed sellers. It would be considered a Class D felony, which is punishable by up to five years in prison, for those who sell, rent, or loan a firearm to someone who isn’t legally allowed.

The National Rifle Association praised House File 756 and called it a “commonsense measure that allows law-abiding citizens to exercise their fundamental rights of self-defense in the manner that best suits their needs.” NRA’s executive director Jason Ouimet said that Gov. Reynolds has recognized that these freedoms and rights are fundamental and natural, not government-given.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s director of public relations, Mark Olivia, also argued against weapon permits and shared that gun control laws were intended to deprive a citizen of their rights in the first place. He said gun reform had origins during the ‘Jim-Crow era of discriminatory laws.’

“Your permit is your freedom to bear arms under the Second Amendment. The notion of needing a permit to exercise your right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment is diametrically opposed to what your rights as an American are at birth,” Olivia said.

President Biden has also talked about taking action against guns being made by 3D printers as well. The administration said that “all options are on the table” to ensure that these executive orders would have a “strong foundation in law.” This just means that the Biden Administration is trying to find a loophole in taking away your constitutional rights. But we’ve known since the beginning of the gun violence movement that it’s not guns that kill people, it’s people who kill people.
