Everything That Is Wrong With The Recently Passed H.R. 1 “For The People” Bill

If we’ve learned anything from how the Democrats ran their elections last year, it’s that they intend to destroy the American vote and any future elections that favor conservatives. As new legislation was proposed by the radical left to “increase transparency” and target provisions related to “voter eligibility,” the left has made it clear that they are willing to attack how we vote in America and choose our elected officials to ensure that they remain in power for decades to come.

The H.R.1 For the People Act of 2021 was introduced by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and destroys several state voting laws to conform to a new set of standards, which includes automatic voter registration. It allows same-day registration and allows people to change their name and address on the rolls at the polling places on Election Day, noting that the votes must be treated as provisional ballots and can be “checked later.” The bill would also teach twelfth graders how to vote and award grants to colleges that “demonstrate excellence in registering students to vote.”

The bill removes several restrictions within the voting system and proposes to expand voting rights to felons, including those who are serving life sentences. It includes banning state voter ID requirements and allows anyone to show up on Election Day to vote, as long as they sign a sworn statement that they are a “legal voter.” Those who go to a DMV, apply for food stamps, attend a public college, use Obamacare, Medicaid, or other social services will be automatically enrolled to vote. This all makes voter fraud incredibly easy and encourages dependency on government-led programs.

The bill also legalizes ballot harvesting, something many states are working hard to stop. Political organizers can pay their workers to knock on doors and “offer” to help residents fill out the ballots they received in the mail. All of these provisions are anything but “for the people.”

The bill also sends out absentee or mail-in ballots as well as forces states to count ballots that arrive by mail as late as 10 days after the election. Mississippi Democrat Bennie Thompson was the only progressive who voted against the bill, noting that he fears it would abolish majority-black districts like his. It passed by ten votes, with every Republican voting against measures that attack our democracy and free speech.

Sen. Mike Lee attacked the proposed legislation, calling it something that was “written in hell by the devil himself” and “rotten to the core.” He went on to explain how it strips the states of making voting decisions and hands them right to the lawmakers in Washington D.C. The bill would also give Congress the authority to make the District of Columbia into the 51st state and hand the Democrats two more Senate seats, along with requiring conservative organizations to disclose any donors.

“They are completely flipping that principal on its head so that all these things can be micromanaged from Washington. That’s wrong. That’s really wrong, it’s bad policy. As much as anything else, it’s wildly unconstitutional,” Sen. Lee said.

We’ve already seen Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer turn the COVID-19 relief spending package into a radical left-wing wish list, but this provision would override hundreds of state laws and how they conduct elections, federalize the control of voting, and turn the elections into a partisan weapon that favors and benefits one party.
