President Joe Biden’s associate attorney general nominee Vanita Gupta has been in the midst of a confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. She has been having to backtrack and address her radical left motives, including apologizing for tweets that attacked Republicans, making several anti-GOP remarks, and describing Conservatives as “driven by hate, bigotry and fear of any threat to the status quo.” While she has pledged to be “impartial” in a new position, her positions on abortion, gun rights, religious liberty, and censorship reflect the opposite.
During the hearing, Gupta dodged questions on whether she supported to end qualified immunity for police or prevent the Department of Justice from seeking massive payouts to pay left-wing interest groups, something former President Barack Obama and then-Attorney General Eric Holder heavily engaged in.
Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Sen. Chuck Grassley asked Gupta if she would represent “all Americans” or let her Twitter feed of partisan political advocacy affect her legal advocacy role. He referenced one tweet where she described a Republican National Convention as “three nights of racism, xenophobia, and outrageous lies.” She also had strong opinions against Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh – two members who could be handling cases with her involvement.
“I regret the harsh rhetoric that I have used at times in the last several years. Perhaps, I think, the rhetoric has gotten quite harsh over the last several years and I have fallen prey to it, and I wish I could take it back. I can’t, but what I can commit to you and ask that you do is look at my lifelong record,” Gupta said.
It’s not shocking that a Democrat would use the “I have fallen prey to it” excuse to justify her past words. Even Judicial Crisis Network president Carrie Severino said that while President Biden has promised to “unify and heal the country,” he couldn’t have picked a more divisive figure to help lead the DOJ.
Gupta also had many issues during last summer’s riots, choosing to advocate to let convicts out of jail, rather than stand for law and order. Over a billion dollars were donated to “social justice” organizations last year to bail out criminals. While Cisco, Intel, Walmart, and Glosser donated and endorsed several of these organizations, Microsoft and Target donated an undisclosed amount to Gupta’s far-left dark money interest group “The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.”
Gupta spent months supporting the Black Lives Matter organization and suggested that the government should divert funding from the police departments and spend more on things like government health care. In a report released by her organization, Gupta also talked about banning law enforcement from all schools, limiting school requests for police assistance, and noting that officers should be banned from asking citizens “about their sexual orientation or immigration status.” She takes a stance on employing “community policing,” a flimsy replacement that has been a complete failure for radical left cities, and argues that the “activists’ use of force” was the proper way to solve issues in America.
Gupta has also urged Big Tech companies, such as Facebook, to employ more censorship and “hate speech policies” to protect “civil rights free speech.” She wrote that increased levels of censorship and content policing would ‘give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.’ To any leftist, hate speech is merely anything rude and opposing their views. She has also claimed that ‘anti-conservative bias’ does not need to be investigated since civil rights are “non-partisan.”
Gupta’s alarming reports and tweets would only enforce more radical left views and bias within the DOJ. And while she may be able to mislead the committee under oath, Gupta’s views have not changed a bit. She’s just “fallen prey” to it.
Did we mention she also owns around $11-55 million of stock in her father’s company that sold acetic anhydride to Mexican Cartels which is used to make that ‘china white’ heroin and methamphetamine? That’s Biden’s associate attorney general nominee.
