Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis appeared at country singer Luke Bryan’s concert for Hurricane Ian relief in Jacksonville, Florida, and of course, some folks were not happy.
I encourage them to “country on” and understand that “most people are good,” while we strip this story down.
After DeSantis posted a photo from the event, Twitter users quickly took to the comments section, sharing their fury that a celebrity might think differently than themselves.

“Ugh.. I used to really like Luke Bryan. Damn Ron, you ruin everything,” one user said.

While these people are free to criticize DeSantis and Bryan, it’s absolutely ridiculous that they feel so strongly about it. Meanwhile, conservatives are constantly used to singers and actors not only backing Democrats, but voicing their disdain for conservatives. In fact, conservatives have become so jaded that it’s a story when an artist decides to buck the trend.
Earlier this week, the faux outrage machine came for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady when reports emerged that DeSantis and he are texting buddies, RedState reported.
Back to Bryan and Gov. DeSantis. The singer released a statement on Twitter on Sunday, explaining the concept that if a concert is intended to assist in disaster recovery, that it might make sense to have the state’s governor there.
“I typically don’t respond to stuff when I’m getting run down on a social platform but here’s the deal. I understand Governor Desantis [sic] is a very polarizing figure,” Bryan wrote.
He added:
“But I grew up in a country where if a governor ask you if they can come and raise awareness to help victims of a natural disaster you help,”
“I’ve generally stayed out of politics throughout my career. I knew people would chatter about this but for me the more important piece was If I am going to come back there a few weeks after a large portion of people have been affected by a natural disaster in a state where people have been good to me this felt right.”

Even if there was not a specific purpose besides campaigning to bring up DeSantis, Bryan would have all the right to do so. That’s the beauty of America.
The current political climate is a “roller coaster,” and the urge to cancel celebrities who disagree with the left-wing status quo in the entertainment industry is destructive to American culture. America needs civility now more than ever, and pitching a fit when a country star – of all people – is pictured alongside a Republican is a waste of time.
