Biden Admin Detaining Migrants Outdoors Under Texas Border Bridge Again In Winter Weather

It was announced that the Biden administration reopened the outdoor detention area under the Del Rio International Bridge, which once houses mostly Haitian migrants. It is now open for transport and processing. Sources within U.S. Customs and Border Protection claim that Border Patrol officers recently detained more than 100 Central American migrants under Del Rio International Bridge, as temperatures dropped to the 50s.

Sources shared that about 1,500 migrants were being held in temporary detention cells at various Border Patrol stations in the Sector of Del Rio. Overcrowding in facilities has again prevented the Border Patrol from Del Rio from quickly transporting migrants to detention facilities at border crossing points.

International attention was drawn to the overflow area in September when officials kept more than 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants inside the outdoor facility. According to a source, the incident started in the same way as Saturday’s.

The source said that it all began with the temporary staging of the area while we wait for transport. It started out as a few hours and then turned into a night and then eventually became several weeks.

According to sources, Border Patrol officials arrested or apprehended more than 180,000 migrants less than two months into the new fiscal. News sources reviewed an unofficial report that showed almost 160,000 migrants had been apprehended in October. The number of apprehensions has risen dramatically since October 2020, when agents only apprehended 69,032 — a 129% increase.

The Del Rio Sector is second in the country in migrant arrests, with recent apprehensions within the Del Rio Sector adding to the agency’s logistical challenges.

A group of almost 200 mostly Central American migrants crossed the Rio Grande near Normandy Texas in one incident, which is only 30 miles from Del Rio. People have been detained at the Del Rio stations, with most of them being single adult migrants. This had made things complicated for Border Patrol agents depending on ICE for longer-term detention spaces.

5,000 migrants have crossed the southern border each day, with the use of outdoor staging areas leading to further problems. A large caravan of migrants has been moving slowly through Mexico, with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott blocking common crossing points at the Del Rio Sector. The Biden Administration has been absent and provided no federal resources to help border states with the ongoing crisis at the border.
