Another Governor’s Eco-Warrior Image is Ruined…

By taking a not-so-close look at the political left, we can see that the goal for the next few years has little to do with ramping up the economy, regaining world peace, or even stopping COVID. Instead, it’s all about retaining the power they’re currently holding onto by threads.

Clearly, they’ve used the pandemic to meet those ends, but now that people are starting to see the truth of their lies, another, although not so new tactic must be used.

Welcome back, climate change.

Not that it’s really been gone, but as the effects of the pandemic waning a bit, we are hearing more and more about it again, especially in light of Biden’s more recent decisions on gas and oil production.

And that brings us New Mexico’s Democratic Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.

As the Associated Press reported via Las Cruces Sun-News, Grisham has made quite a name for herself in recent years as a climate change warrior in her state. Most notably was her September 2019 pledge to transition the state into more eco-friendly times by putting new state restrictions on vehicle emissions and fuel consumption.

According to Grisham, beginning with the model year 2022 vehicles, New Mexico would raise their fuel economy standards to an average of 52 mpg by 2025.

In a 2019 statement, the liberal governor said, “to combat climate change, to keep New Mexico’s citizens safe, to protect the air we all breathe, it’s essential we adopt the more stringent clean car standards that increase fuel economy and reduce emissions.”

Of course, this was at the same time then-President Donald Trump was rolling back EPA emissions and efficiency standards. Grisham called Trump’s efforts counterproductive and theft of the tools our nations needed to achieve a better climate.

Now to be clear, getting 52 mpg would be awesome for just about everyone. Less fuel purchased and used at the pump, less money out of consumer pockets, and less carbon fuel emissions added to the atmosphere.

As seems to be common with most leftist-backed plans, the only problem is reality.

You see, according to the Environmental Protection Agency’s data, the current national estimated fuel economy is about 25.7 miles per gallon. And that’s including the ever-increasing fuel-efficient 2021 models.

So basically, Grisham wants her state to nearly double the fuel efficiency of all cars in now less than five years.

What this means is that the state needs to add a massive amount of either hybrid or more fuel-efficient cars to the market and soon. And as the Rio Grande Foundation’s president Paul Gessing says, that’s going to require some major changes in buying habits, massive taxpayer subsidies, and/or a large percentage of New Mexico’s cars being purchased out of state, particularly since “’light trucks’ now account for 69 percent of the new car market.”

But that’s not even the worse part.

As it turns out, Grisham seems to expect everyone else to meld and change to fit her mold, all while drives all over in what can only be called a ‘gas-guzzler.’

So what does the hypocritical Democrat, or is driven around in?

Well, a not-so virtue-signaling SUV that only gets 12.65 miles to the gallon. The information was obtained after an Inspection of Public Record Act request had been filed by The Federalist and a nonprofit group known as Power the Future for the time frame of July of 2020 to June of 2021 for Grisha’s vehicle.

Western states’ director for Power the Future Larry Behrens noted that “while not as bad as John Kerry’s private jet, Governor Lujan Grisham’s actions surely deserve an Honorable Mention for the most green hypocrisy in the country. Make no mistake, her eco-left allies will stay quiet about her gas-guzzling ways because they care more about political power than being honest.”

Unfortunately for Grisham, her state’s residents may not feel the same way.

As Gessing says, if she hopes to keep any of her current power, she’s either going to have to comply with her own rules or hope that someone higher up picks her for some auspicious Washington-based job, although I don’t see either happening any time soon.
