Vice President Kamala Harris recently decided to go to the border and it was a worse idea than the Biden Administration realized. While VP Harris was tasked with being Border Czar and handling the surge of illegal immigrants, she settled for a photo op at El Paso that was so pointless it even had Democrats complaining. If Harris was the real border czar, she’d stop caring about what the left-leaning media has to say about her and do what it takes to help America.
At the same time, former President Donald Trump and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott blasted Biden’s policies at the real border and were so enthusiastic about protecting our citizens that some people declared Trump as the “real” border czar. Trump talked about finishing the border wall, stopping catch-and-release, and halting the flow of migrants.
Rep. Jodey Arrington, who attended the Trump/Abbott roundtable, shared that while Trump may not be our president today, he’s certainly the “real border czar because of his record of achievements.” He said that Trump is a president who delivered results and followed through on his promises. Arrington said that every success and achievement has been reversed and now “we’re seeing record numbers the other way.”
Another rep shared that Trump is the “real” border czar for making it clear that the border crisis is a result of Biden’s decisions. His decisions and policies have opened the door to hundreds of thousands of migrants.
Things have gotten so bad that five counties and a group of Texas sheriffs recently placed VP Harris on notice and filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration. The sheriffs accused the Biden Administration of stopping federal officials from arresting or deporting criminal illegal immigrants. Kris Kobach, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs, emphasized that these are criminals with serious charges and that the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials are being ordered by the Biden Administration to let them walk free.
“The ICE officers involved in this case are absolutely astounded at what their superiors are asking them to do: releasing people charged with rape of a child, releasing people charged with dealing drugs and resisting arrest,” Kobach said.
The lawsuit claims that these orders were issued in a Feb.18 memorandum and that they are “unlawful and unconstitutional.” The memorandum, titled “Interim Guidance: Civil Immigration Enforcement Removal and Priorities,” issued all ICE employees to refrain from placing illegal aliens into “removal proceedings” or from taking custody of such aliens unless they fall into narrow categories of “cases that are presumed to be priorities.” This only included cases of migrants who pose national security or terrorist threat to the country.
According to the memorandum, taking any action against an illegal alien required pre-approval from a high-ranking field officer or special agent. In April 2021, ICE carried out fewer than 3,000 arrests, which was the lowest number on record. These policies were ordered as Texas counties saw a massive surge in illegal immigration.
Border patrol agents said they reported numbers they have not seen in over 21 years. In May 2021, ICE agents apprehended 180,034 illegal aliens (or eight times the previous year’s total). This compares to the 21,593 migrants agents apprehended in May 2020.
Because of Biden’s policies, dangerous drug cartels are in charge of the border and migrant children are in danger of abuse. But the Biden Administration will be more interested in saving face politically than cleaning up the mess they caused.
The radical left is racing to fill the nation with millions of new “Dreamers” and grab as many votes as they can with the reversal of Trump’s policies. If they expect the Border states to sit down and get out of the way, they’ve got another thing coming.
