Border Czar Jacobson Abruptly Exits Her Role Amid The Migrant Surge

After just two months on the job, President Biden’s Southern Border Coordinator Roberta Jacobson announced that she would be retiring at the end of the month. After weeks of the Biden Administration denying the surge of illegal immigrants as a “crisis” and Vice President Kamala Harris refusing to visit the border herself, it’s hard to imagine who will work on improving these Border conditions at all. Democrats are ignoring the border crisis and challenges for Border Patrol Agents only gets worse by the day.

Jacobson reports that she will be leaving her “border czar” role on the National Security Council at the end of April and that the position was “always intended to last for only about 100 days.” Her abrupt exit was seen as “striking” by many Border officials, especially since she shared in a New York Times interview two weeks ago that she was planning to expand her trips to Central America soon.

Jacobson abrupt announcement shortly after expressing her frustrations over the Biden Administration sending the wrong signals to migrants rushing the southern border. She said that the administration’s language about the border have made it difficult to convey any hope of the future, especially when smugglers and the Cartel have only been interested in profiting from people crossing the border.

Jacobson even admits that many of Biden’s campaign promises have spurred the surge at the border and that there has been a “spread of disinformation” that has been seen as false hope. Many migrants have told reporters that they made the dangerous trip because they had been promised amnesty and free healthcare by the administration.

“We are trying to convey to everybody in the region that we will have legal processes for people in the future…but at the same time, you cannot come through irregular means. The border is not open,” Jacobson said.

The Biden Administration has gotten so desperate that they’ve even talked about starting a cash transfer program that would send payments to residents of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, to prevent migrants from making the border crossing journey. Jacobson called it a “productive option” to address both the economic reasons people may be migrating, as well as for protection and security measures. Even in the midst of radical left leadership shutting down American workplaces and jobs during COVID-19, the Biden Administration still wants to send money to other countries.

National Public Radio reported that nearly 172,000 people were stopped at the U.S Border in March alone, which is the highest number that U.S Customs and Border Protection have seen in at least 15 years. This is a 71% spike from the month of February, including nearly 19,000 children and teenagers traveling without an adult. And while the Biden Administration continues to blame former President Trump for the migrant surge, the numbers only get worse each month.

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich recently shared that the Biden administration’s lack of communication has been “disappointing” as numbers grow worse by the day and that he even invited vice president Kamala Harris out to tour Arizona’s border region but she has yet to respond.

Democrats and the mainstream media spend most of their time blaming Trump for any problem and calling the border crisis “a right-winged narrative.” With a border czar out the door and a vice president supposedly in charge and nowhere to be seen, the crisis grows more dangerous by the day. The radical left just doesn’t want to admit they’ve lost total control of the narrative.
