MSNBC’s Joy Reid Claims Conservatives Would Trade Tax Cuts ‘Just To Use The N-Word’

MSNBC host Joy Reid recently responded to a tweet from MSNBC political contributor Dr. Jason Johnson and suggested that “people on the right” would trade all of the tax cuts in the world for the ability to say the n-word openly. MSNBC hosts really do get away with saying anything they want these days.

The conversation started when former New York Times writer Bari Weiss published an article talking about the epidemic of self-censorship and how it is threatening democracy She wrote that people live in fear of saying what they really think, especially in red America and blue America. She adds that self-censorship is the norm now, not the exception.

“They are feminists who believe there are biological differences between men and women. Journalists who believe their job is, to tell the truth about the world, even when it’s inconvenient. Doctors whose only creed is science. Lawyers who will not compromise on the principle of equal treatment under the law. Professors who seek the freedom to write and research without fear of being smeared. In short, they are centrists, libertarians, liberals and progressives who do not ascribe to every single aspect of the new far-left orthodoxy,” the article reads.

MSNBC contributor Johnson responded to Weiss and the article saying that “censoring the N-word amongst friends” isn’t the issue at hand. Others pointed out that Weiss’ article makes no mention of the n-word, but rather the upsetting ideas and beliefs surrounding conversation and cancel culture. That’s when Reid gave her two cents as well.

“I’ll say it again: people on the right would trade all the tax cuts for the ability to openly say the n-word like in “the good old days.” To them, not being able to be openly racist and discriminatory without consequence is oppression. Trump is the avatar for this “freedom,” she tweeted to Johnson.

The reactions were mixed between Twitter users calling this notion “untrue” and others pointing out that her comment is just plain “disgusting.” They also brought up the fact that some of her controversial comments used language that many deemed homophobic.

“Joy Reid of MSNBC: I suggest you watched Hannity. I called you out as a racist. I also suggest you apologize to every Republican in this country. Finally, I suggest you look in the mirror and apologize for your homophobic comments,” attorney Leo Terrell tweeted.

Terrell also referred to Reid as a “Black elitist” who “doesn’t represent Black folks.”

In 2018, she infamously claimed that her pre-fame blog was hacked by time travelers who planted homophobic and anti-Semitic slurs. She was eventually forced to apologize on MSNBC but maintained that she “didn’t remember” writing the offensive posts.

Reid has also called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as “Uncle Clarence,” a reference to the “Uncle Tom slur for Blacks viewed as too deferential to Whites, as well as Sen. Tim Scott the “patina of diversity.” He is the Senate’s lone Black Republican who was present at a press conference opposing the Democrats’ proposed minimum wage hike.

For someone who talks about racists, Joy Reid seems to be the one constantly dragging race into every discussion on every topic.
