Democrats are losing their minds over the fix that Joe Biden has put them in with the classified documents scandal and how his response has just seemed to make everything worse.
According to NBC, Democratic allies are “voicing frustration” with that “tight-lipped response” from the White House, saying they should be more forthcoming.
Until then, Biden needs to more fully explain how and why classified records dating back to his vice presidency wound up in his garage and a private office in Washington, D.C., according to Democratic strategists, lawmakers and even administration officials.
“He’s got to say, ‘I messed up, I apologize,'” said Lanny Davis, who handled various investigations as a lawyer in the Clinton White House.
“With the wisdom of hindsight, it’s not too late for President Biden to own up to mishandling this,” said Davis, who now works in crisis management. “Own it!”
But that’s already too late since Biden has been claiming he was surprised and that he didn’t even know what was in the documents. Plus, it’s Biden. He’s congenitally unable to take responsibility for anything he does, he’s always lying or blaming someone else. He just expects that the Democrats are going to pull his bacon out of the fire as they have in the past. Not to mention saying “I messed up” isn’t a defense to removing classified documents and keeping them in an unsecured situation. He does need to be concerned about his legal position, as I noted earlier in writing about Jonathan Turley’s take on the scandal.
Even Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) is now admitting that Biden’s comments last year about President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents being “irresponsible” are now “embarrassing,” given Biden’s actions.
Biden on 60 Minutes in September reacting to classified documents being found at Mar-a-Lago:

“Well, it’s certainly embarrassing,” Stabenow said to Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
That’s one way of putting it. Indeed, the level of arrogance, knowing that he’d removed classified documents, just calling it “embarrassing” is kind. It’s shameless beyond belief.
But what the Democrats are truly bothered by, and why she’s saying it’s embarrassing, is because it undercuts their ability to attack Trump over the documents at Mar-a-Lago. Trump had a right to presidential records and he could declassify things, unlike Biden. Now with the Biden scandal, the Democrats have their classified document scandal, without any defense.
Their only response is that he’s cooperating. Stabenow said the White House was working with everyone “to correct it.” “So, from my perspective, it’s one of those moments that, obviously, they wish hadn’t happened,” Stabenow said. Yes, after who knows how many years, “wishing it hadn’t happened” isn’t a defense to taking the documents.
This is the case of “what goes around comes around”.
