The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security, is hiding data about the deportations and arrests of illegal aliens in the United States during his first year of office.
Biden’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), released this week their Fiscal Year 2021 Annual Report — months later than previous administrations.
According to the report, Biden has dramatically reduced interior immigration enforcement. Since Fiscal Year 2019, deportations have been slashed by 78% and arrests of illegal aliens dropped by nearly 50%.
From October 2020 to September 2021, there were just slightly more than 74,000 illegal aliens arrested. Biden’s arrest count is even lower because the bulk of them were arrested while Trump was still President.
Deportation of illegal aliens was also reduced to less than 60,000.
The report does not include a comprehensive list of datasets such as the number illegal aliens who were issued ICE detainers during the Fiscal Year 2021.
This number is significant because it shows the effect that Biden’s “sanctuary countries” orders, where most illegal aliens are protected from arrest and deportation, have had on ICE agents preventing them from capturing illegal aliens from local law enforcement custody once they are convicted.
Breitbart News asked ICE officials whether they would publish the missing data in the future. The agency replied with a generic statement that read, “We will get back to you when we have more information.”
Jon Feere, a former ICE official, noted the missing data. This also includes:
Convictions and criminal charges against illegal aliens
Monthly totals of deportation and arrests
Data on deportation categorized by country
Daily detainee population
Number of illegal aliens that ICE has not taken into custody
Arresting agency categorizes deportations
All data related to unaccompanied alien children (UACs), family units, and UACs
Data on arrest and deportation categorized according to pending criminal charges
Feere, a Center for Immigration Studies researcher, wrote that “The natural conclusion is that this lack of transparency shows that the Biden administration’s extremely limiting immigration enforcement guidance have been disastrous for public security and that it does not want to defend them — in court of public opinion as well as in actual courtrooms where their policies are currently under serious judicial scrutiny.”
In terms of visuals and comparisons with other Fiscal Years, the report was not as detailed as previous year reports. The Trump report provided comparisons between each dataset and the previous two Fiscal Years via charts. However, the Biden report does not provide such visual.
On the other hand, the agency’s diversity programs were praised. The report, for example, noted that ICE employees had undergone “unconscious bias,” cultural sensitivity, and “implicit biased” training.
