Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden’s top medical advisor, has flip-flopped on COVID-19 guidance for over a year now. While he previously discredited the Trump Administration for claiming that COVID-19 escaped from a Wuhan lab, he now says that he is “not convinced” of the virus’s natural origins.
During an interview with PolitiFact as part of their United Facts of America: Fact-Checking event, host Katie Sanders asked the National Health Director if he was still confident that coronavirus developed naturally. Fauci’s newfound skepticism is at odds with several stances he’d made in the past. While Democrats claimed that Trump was just being “racist” about his coronavirus lab leak theory, there’s a lot more truth to what he’s saying than most people realize.
“No. I’m not convinced about that. I think that we should continue to investigate what went on in China until we find out to the best of our ability exactly what happened. Certainly, the people who investigated it say it likely was the emergence from an animal reservoir that then infected individuals, but it could have been something else, and we need to find that out. So, you know, that’s the reason why I said I’m perfectly in favor of any investigation that looks into the origin of the virus,” Dr. Fauci said.
In a May 2020 National Geographic article, Fauci said he doesn’t “entertain an alternate theory” that the coronavirus was in the wild, brought into a lab, and then accidentally escaped. He said that everything about the stepwise evolution over time indicates that the virus evolved in nature and then jumped species. So much for that “science.”
Now, recent surveys are indicating that the people’s confidence in Fauci, as well as the White House, have significantly gone down over the past year.
Trafalgar Group and Convention of States Action, a conservative activist group, recently conducted a poll that included 1,093 respondents from May 16 to 18. 42.2% of participants said that their confidence in the White House COVID-19 Response Team has gone down over the past year.
Nearly 1 in 3 voted that their confidence in Fauci had “decreased significantly” and 12.1% just said that it “decreased.” Only 5% of Republican participants described Fauci’s job as “excellent” and 12% as “good.” A whopping 55% described Fauci’s job rating as “poor.”41% of Independents also said that they had lost confidence while Democrats had the most confidence in the medical expert, with 32% who said they had higher confidence in him since the beginning of the pandemic.
“Since the beginning, Dr. Anthony Fauci has served as the face of and has set the tone for, Washington’s response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Voters are wisely deciding for themselves and ignoring D.C,” President of Convention of States Action Mark Meckler said.
Others have questioned Fauci’s knowledge in funding gain-of-function research. EcoHealth, which was funded $3.7 million over six years from the National Institute of Health, distributed $600,000 in grant money to the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab for “gain-of-function” research, which could’ve caused the pathogens and virus to become more infectious to humans. It is even possible that the virus caused the COVID-19 disease and was accidentally released from the Wuhan lab.
Trump had even questioned Fauci, as well as the Health Department, for funding the lab in Wuhan and discussing the amount of federal money involved. Even the World Health Organization director-general said that he doesn’t believe the Wuhan investigation “was extensive enough.”
Sen. Rand Paul has also raised the issues of coronavirus origins, accusing the Wuhan Institute of Virology and U.S researchers of “juicing up super-viruses.” He told Fox News that Fauci could be culpable for the entire pandemic, but that they don’t have enough information yet. Tucker Carlson also referred to the two main theories published by the New York Times science writer Nicholas Wade, saying that there is no direct evidence for either one yet.
“The guy in charge of America’s response to COVID turns out to be the guy who funded the creation of COVID. We’re speaking of Tony Fauci and the gain-of-function experiments at the Wuhan laboratory that the U.S. government with his approval paid for,” Carlson said.
A year later and we have no guidance, science, or even a clue as to the origins of COVID-19. President Biden’s “top” medical adviser is just another government official pushing radical-left narratives, avoiding science, and refusing to answer the most important questions out there. He’s even admitted to moving goalposts and being wishy-washy on guidelines throughout the whole year, adding that he’s only said what he thinks “people need to hear.”
Don’t forget, Fauci is the highest paid government worker too. No wonder the American people have lost their confidence in him.
