Fauci Loses, the Beagles Win: Trump’s NIH Director Shutters Last Cruel Beagle Experimentation Labs

National Institutes of Health (NIH) director Jay Bhattacharya has shut down the agency’s last beagle laboratory, ending controversial experiments linked to Dr. Anthony Fauci.

This decision marks the end of a long-standing practice of using dogs in biomedical research, which drew significant public and ethical scrutiny.

“We got rid of all of the beagle experiments on NIH campus,” Bhattacharya said in an interview with “Fox & Friends Weekend” host Rachel Campos-Duffy.

The closure reflects a shift in NIH policy under Bhattacharya’s leadership, prioritizing ethical considerations and responding to widespread criticism of the experiments’ cruelty before his arrival.

The Director noted a pivot towards artificial intelligence in conducting theoretical experimentation, which will alleviate the need for animal experimentation and more readily produce results that can be used for humans.

“It’s very easy, for instance, to cure Alzheimer’s in mice. But those things don’t translate to humans,” he said. “So we put forward a policy to replace animals in research with technological advances, AI, and other tools that actually translate better to human health.”

Additional Proof Emerges Implicating Dr. Fauci’s Direct Involvement in the Beagle Experiments

Fauci’s former employing agency, the National Institutes of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID), an arm of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), used taxpayer funds to finance cruel experiments on dogs.

The White Coat Waste Project (WCW) exposed that experimentation in the fall of 2021. Some of the testing is difficult to stomach even in description alone, let alone the videos and images uncovered showing the deplorable conditions in which these beagles were left to suffer and die.

One such experiment reportedly included $375,000 given to a Tunisian research lab that placed beagle puppies’ heads in cages filled with sand flies, which ate them alive. Fauci conceded to a House subcommittee that he “signed off” on grants that funded the tests.

Fauci, the man behind the COVID pandemic response, which was ultimately proven to be a tragic opera of incompetence, insisted that the beagle experimentation story was blown out of proportion by nefarious actors.

Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) brought some of those beagles rescued from the clutches of the lab supplier for the NIH in as a demonstration for a hearing in February on “Oversight of Taxpayer-Funded Animal Cruelty.”

“The White Coat Waste Project found in 2021 that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a component of NIH at the time ran by Anthony Fauci, spent $1.68 million force feeding toxic drugs to beagle puppies between 6 and 8 months old before dissecting and killing them,” she said in opening remarks.

Mace observed that the beagles in the chamber were “a reminder of the real cost of animal experimentation.”

Bhattacharya said that his move to shutter the cruel beagle experimentation labs was met with such positive reaction that the notoriously unhinged People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) even reached out and sent him flowers.

“Normally, I think NIH directors tend to get physical threats, but they sent me flowers,” he said.

“We applaud the President for cutting this wasteful NIH spending and will keep fighting until we defund all dog labs at home and abroad,” a statement from Anthony Bellotti, President and Founder of WCW, reads. “The solution is simple: Stop the money. Stop the madness!”
