Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) suggested the House Oversight Committee consider bringing in therapy dogs to help Democrats cope during a hearing on Wednesday. And wouldn’t you know it? Thursday’s hearing featured some adorable pups.
Not strictly for the reasons one might think.
Mr. Crane, during a hearing on ‘Rightsizing Government,’ noticed that his Democrat colleagues had become a little verklempt over the idea that Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team have been making efforts to slash government waste and fraud.
In fact, earlier in the hearing, the resistance party tried to catch GOP lawmakers off guard by calling for a vote to subpoena Musk. Shouting and chaos ensued, with plenty of “Out of orders!” being launched in all directions.
In the end, the surprise move failed because, even though six Republicans missed the vote, the Democrats had actually caught two of their own off guard, and the GOP members won, 20-19.
As the hearing progressed, Crane used his time to make a perfectly reasonable suggestion.
“Mr. Chairman, would it be possible to get some therapy dogs in here for my colleagues on the other side of the aisle?” he asked.
Committee Chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) quipped about asking Rep. Jamie Raskin’s “shrink,” prompting a devastating response from Crane.
“I’m worried about their mental stability,” he mused.
Even before the chaotic vote, RedState’s Nick Arama covered the insanity emanating from Tuesday’s anti-DOGE protests outside the Treasury Department. Democrats, suffice it to say, are not well.
The screeching was amped up to eleven as lawmakers were faced with the reality that Musk and his DOGE team are cleaning out the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), an agency proven to be serving as a pet project slush fund for the Democrat Party.

While most of us got a good laugh over the exchange, Crane insisted on X that he was not joking. The Democrats need them some therapy dogs.
“It wasn’t meant to be a joke,” he countered. “The adults are trying to get work done.”
Fast forward to Thursday’s committee hearing and, lo and behold, there were, in fact, some dogs in the House.
“It was just yesterday in an Oversight hearing that I asked Chairman Comer if we could get some therapy dogs up here because of some of the meltdowns that were going on,” Crane remarked. “I had no idea I’d walk into this hearing today and see three beautiful beagle puppies.”
The Arizona congressman noted that the very presence of the dogs improved his mood and suggested the committee “make it mandatory” for them to be there.
Sadly, however, those beautiful beagle puppies were there for a not-so-beautiful reason.
Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) brought them in as a demonstration for a hearing addressing “Oversight of Taxpayer Funded Animal Cruelty.”
Specifically, cruelty funded by the pardoned Dr. Anthony Fauci. You may recall that Fauci’s former employing agency, the National Institutes of Allergy & Infectious Disease (NIAID), an arm of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), used taxpayer funds to finance cruel experiments on dogs.
According to Mace, the beagles pictured at the hearing were rescued from the NIH lab supplier.
Mace offered this grim reminder in her opening remarks:
The White Coat Waste Project found in 2021 that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a component of NIH at the time ran by Anthony Fauci, spent $1.68 million force feeding toxic drugs to beagle puppies between 6 and 8 months old before dissecting and killing them.
Congresswoman Mace observed that the beagles in the chamber were “a reminder of the real cost of animal experimentation.”

Considering where Democrat’s heads are right now, even the most adorable of beagles might not quell their fears. They’re lost, broken, screeching about “War!” and desperately trying to incite violence in the streets.
Emotional support beagles, llamas, peacocks – bring them all in. No amount of therapy will heal the wounds of a party losing their grip on their government slush funds, not to mention their grip on reality.
