Vice President Kamala Harris recently shared with United Nations members that global leaders should start putting in the “serious work” as to how they will respond to the next global pandemic. This was Harris’s second virtual address to a UN body since her inauguration and was co-hosted by representatives of Argentina, Japan, Norway, and South Africa. She shared the administration’s steps to pandemic preparedness and response but reminded leaders that much of the world has struggled so far.
“At the same time that the world works to get through this pandemic, we also know that we must prepare for the next one. We have been reminded that the status quo is not nearly good enough, and that innovation is indeed the path forward,” Harris said.
Harris called the meeting “an important first step” towards preventing the next pandemic and collaboration around the world. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S ambassador to the United Nations, said the country needed to take “proactive action now” to create a lasting global health security architecture that will strengthen healthcare systems and make the world more resilient in the face of the future pandemics. Harris and Thomas-Greenfield agreed that it would be “unwise” to rest easy.
“The takeaway from this past year is clear: The world barely withstood this pandemic. We must be ready for the next,” Thomas-Greenfield said.
But critics lashed out at Harris for talking about another pandemic. Author Carl Vernon said pandemics used to be about every 100 years “until the eye-watering profits and unlimited control became apparent.” Because of Kamala Harris warning the world to begin preparing for the next pandemic, Vernon said to expect one about every few years now.
Others pointed out that the radical left just wants to continue pushing more fear and panic into the ideas of another pandemic. World leaders want to keep people in fear with lockdowns and mask mandates that are backed up by zero scientific evidence to keep the power they need. “The next pandemic can’t come soon enough for the left. Authoritarian control and power are what they strive for,” a Twitter user wrote.
VP Harris also talked about how other countries should focus their attention including investing more into science, increased capacity for personal protective equipment, vaccine and test kit manufacturing, and improving access to health care, among other measures.
VP Harris used her first United Nations Commission speech to talk about “women empowerment” without mentioning a word of the multiple sexual harassment accusations against Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Now, she’s using her second speech to talk about preparations for the next pandemic without even acknowledging how to help those right now. She even laughed during a speech in New Hampshire last week when talking about the 2 million “women people” who lost their jobs during the pandemic.

Last year’s crisis did not come from the spread of the COVID-19 virus or overcrowded hospitals but from government-mandated lockdowns and nationwide mask mandates from the radical left. VP Harris doesn’t care about helping people today – she wants them to fear tomorrow.
