Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) has turned on President Joe Biden over his refusal to pressure Israel into surrendering to the terrorist group Hamas. In a recent video circulating on social media, she called on Democrats in Dearborn, Michigan, to vote against Biden during the upcoming primary races.
This move reflects growing dissatisfaction with the Biden administration among members of the pro-Hamas element in Congress and the activist class. During her speech, Tlaib said: “If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote uncommitted.”
The lawmaker continued, emphasizing the need among those opposing Israel to make a louder statement to the Biden administration.
“It is also important to create a voting bloc, something that is a bullhorn, to say, ‘Enough is enough. We don’t want a country that supports wars and bombs and destruction. We want to support life. We want to support life. We want to stand up for every single life killed in Gaza.”
Tlaib continued, stating that this is how those who oppose Israel “can raise our voices” and urged listeners not to “make us even more invisible.”
Tlaib appears to have chosen the right place to give this speech, as Dearborn is home to a high population of Muslim Americans who support the Palestinians. Indeed, the anti-Israel sentiment in this community runs so deep that the city has seen a number of raucous protests.
Days after the Hamas October 7 surprise attack on Israel, students at various Dearborn high schools walked out of class to stage a demonstration in which they chanted “Allahu Akbar.”
Tlaib has raised quite a bit of controversy ever since Israel began retaliating against Hamas. She waited until after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began striking back at the terrorists in Gaza to start calling for a ceasefire – because she was perfectly fine with Hamas’ initial attack in which they murdered over 1,200 Israelis.
She also led what Democrats would call an insurrection if it had involved conservatives in Washington, D.C. In November, the House voted to censure Tlaib over her miles-long list of antisemitic remarks, as RedState’s Susie Moore reported:
Tlaib narrowly avoided being censured last Wednesday on a vote that failed 222-186. However, in a relatively swift reversal, her fellow congressmembers voted in favor of censuring her Tuesday night.
The vote was 234 in favor of the censure, with 188 opposing it and four members voting “present.”
This was not a straight party-line vote. Twenty-two Democrats voted in favor of the censure, while four Republicans voted nay.
The push to censure Tlaib gained new life after she released a propaganda video Friday afternoon calling for an immediate ceasefire and including a clip from a Michigan rally where the crowd is chanting: “From the river to the sea!”
That proved a bridge too far for even some of her fellow Democrats, despite the impassioned (some might say unhinged) pleas of her fellow Squad members Tuesday afternoon.
If residents of Dearborn actually follow Tlaib’s guidance, it might send a small statement to the Biden administration, but it’s unlikely to make a difference. The president is not facing any serious primary challengers and it is highly unlikely that voters in this city won’t support Biden in the general election.
