Joe Biden’s former press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, is making a hilarious attempt to reinvent herself, and her former colleagues aren’t too thrilled. Multiple former staffers are now trashing her for her betrayal, according to Axios.
As RedState reported, Jean-Pierre is coupling a new book titled “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines” with leaving the Democratic Party. All of this is supposed to paint her as a renewed truth teller, cutting through the supposed facade of party politics, which is simply unbelievable given that she was at the center of covering up Biden’s senility while in the White House.
Within hours, though, it was revealed that Jean-Pierre’s publicist had lied about the two working together beginning in 2023, immediately engulfing the book in scandal. That’s something we’ll touch on towards the end of this article.

So what are Jean-Pierre’s former colleagues saying about her shameless money grab? They aren’t happy, and some of these quotes are absolutely brutal.
What they’re saying: One former White House official who worked closely with Jean-Pierre told Axios that she “was one of the most ineffectual and unprepared people I’ve ever worked with. … She had meltdowns after any interview that asked about a topic not sent over by producers.”
- “She didn’t know how to manage a team, didn’t know how to shape or deliver a message, and often created more problems than she solved,” the official said.
- A former Biden communications official threw more wood on the fire: “The hubris of thinking you can position yourself as an outsider when you not only have enjoyed the perks of extreme proximity to power — which … bestows the name recognition needed to sell books off your name — but have actively wielded it from the biggest pulpit there is, is as breathtaking as it is desperate … It’s difficult to see how this is anything but a bizarre cash grab.”
- Another former White House official familiar with the dynamics told Axios: “The amount of time that was spent coddling [Jean-Pierre] and appeasing her was astronomical compared to our attention on actual matters of substance.”
Welcome to the party, I guess. Some of us tried to tell Democrats that Jean-Pierre was laughably bad at her job. It was obvious she was hired and kept her position based on intersectional politics and not actual ability. This is a woman who would often read verbatim from a pre-prepared binder, answering questions that weren’t even asked because she was so incapable of thinking on her feet. At her worst, she would even create controversies herself, something a comms official is never supposed to do.
I love the above quote about hubris because it perfectly encapsulates Jean-Pierre. She is not an independent with any insight to give. She’s a mindless parrot who propagated the greatest scandal in American presidential history, and she still hasn’t shown an ounce of regret.
Returning to Jean-Pierre’s relationship with Gilda Squire, the publicist mentioned at the beginning of this piece, that’s also become a point of contention.
Zoom in: Some former Biden aides said Jean-Pierre’s tenure was complicated by her work with a New York-based publicist, Gilda Squire.
- Jean-Pierre was the focus of several magazine profiles and appeared on “The View” in New York. At one point, she wanted to appear on the show once a week.
- Within the White House, there were concerns about Squire being looped in on internal emails regarding Jean-Pierre’s profiles and promotional appearances.
- Concerns about Jean-Pierre’s self-promotion were even raised with the White House counsel’s office because some staffers felt torn between their administration duties and helping Jean-Pierre promote herself, according to a former White House aide familiar with the internal dynamics.
Yes, Jean-Pierre is such an egomaniac that she wanted to appear on “The View” once a week. She was also using her time in the White House to build her profile more broadly, to the point where the White House counsel’s office had to get involved. Staffers were apparently being forced to help promote her, with Squire (who again, lied about all this) being looped in on internal emails.
The long knives are out, and Jean-Pierre deserves every bit of this. Her attempt at reinvention should be insulting to every American voter. Instead of promoting a book, she should be testifying under oath before Congress about her subversion of the presidency.
