Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) used a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday to plead with his congressional colleagues to demand that the Trump administration return “gangbangers” sent to El Salvador.
Today’s hearing was on “Judicial Overreach & Constitutional Limits On The Federal Courts.”
It allowed Raskin to assail Republicans for criticizing Federal District Court Judge James Boasberg for ordering illegal alien deportation flights to El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) to be re-routed back home mid-flight.
“I call on my colleagues right now to call off their campaign to impeach federal judges for doing their job,” Raskin said. “I call on them to demand that the Trump administration comply with all judicial orders while appealing whichever ones they want to appeal.”
“And to demand the return of people unlawfully taken to El Salvador on that so-called plane full of gangbangers.”

Raskin uses a couple of false premises to make his point during that rant. First, he claims that Trump administration criticisms of Boasberg or other federal judges trying to halt the president’s agenda are tantamount to making explicit threats.
Which is rich, considering the left-wing attack on the Supreme Court almost got Justice Brett Kavanaugh assassinated.
Second, Raskin’s desire to return all of the MS-13 and Tren de Aragua gangbangers is fueled by leftist media pushing a story about an alleged innocent father wrongly associated with one of the gangs being sent to CECOT. The story references Abrego Garcia, who was removed due to an “administrative error” that was more about procedure, while the media conveniently ignores his reported gang ties.
A story Vice President JD Vance helpfully pointed out has not been covered honestly. The innocent father Democrats and the media are latching onto in an effort to portray Trump’s deportation operation as heartless did, according to an immigration judge in 2019, have evidence of an association with MS-13.
“The man is an illegal immigrant with no right to be in our country,” Vance wrote on X. “An immigration judge determined he was a member of the MS-13 gang.”
“Because he is not a citizen, he does not get a full jury trial by peers. In other words, whatever ‘due process’ he was entitled to, he received.”
In a separate post, Vance excoriated the media (and Democrats for that matter) for taking the side of the criminals and gangbangers.
“Joe Biden sanctioned an invasion of the United States. We have approximately 20 million illegal aliens in this country,” he explained. “Their victims are measured in longer wait times for hospitals, overwhelmed schools, and murder victims the media largely ignored.”
“The media has determined the real victims are the gang members we’re trying to get out of the country.”
By the way, if you’d like to see some of these pristine members of society, feel free to take a look at the heavily tattooed prisoners behind Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem as she toured CECOT.
Recent polling shows that opposition to these mass deportations is yet another hot-button item in which the Democrats find themselves on the opposite side of the American people.
An overwhelming majority of Americans support President Trump’s effort to deport illegal aliens. It’s not even close.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday announced that another 17 illegal gangbanger terrorists had been shipped off to El Salvador. If Raskin wants them back so badly, maybe they should be dropped off in his front yard.
Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left’s lies, new legislation wasn’t needed to secure our border, just a new president.
