Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) thoroughly took apart a radical leftist law professor over her past quotes and tweets she has posted attacking the U.S. Constitution — and then some in a Tuesday hearing before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution regarding the Censorship Industrial Complex.
As only he can, the cagey, wicked-smart Louisianan was not only well prepared to question George Washington Law School professor, author of “The Cult of the Constitution,” and radical activist Mary Anne Franks, but he did so in his typical mild-mannered style, with a bit of wry wit tossed in for good measure.
Before we dig in, it should be noted that among Ms. Franks’s “areas of expertise” is teaching First Amendment and Second Amendment law. Keep that in mind as you continue to read.
In a Tuesday afternoon post to X (formerly Twitter) embedded with video of Kennedy questioning Franks, the senator wrote:
This radical witness thinks that the “majority of Americans hate women more than they love anything” and that the Supreme Court upheld an individual right to bear arms because of “white male supremacy.”
Curb my NAUSEA.
How can you not love this guy? Wait — I’m confident you do.
Kennedy began by reading several quotes from Franks.
Professor Franks, I listened to your testimony and Professor [Jonathan] Turley’s, so I got part of it. As I understand it, your position, Professor Franks is — you used the word “myth” — it is a myth that the Biden administration used government to compel private speech but that the Trump administration is doing that. Is that a fair characterization?
“Yes, that is correct,” Franks replied. Kennedy continued:
Do you think, perhaps, you’re allowing your personal political beliefs to affect your objectivity, here?
“No I do not,” Franks answered, continuing:
What is guiding my answers here is that I’m looking to see what the Supreme Court has done. You notice that in the testimony about the censorship—
Kennedy cut her off, saying he only had five minutes to question her. He continued:
Your answer is “no,” and I appreciate it. Let me ask you a couple questions. You wrote a Law Review article in September of 2023 about Bruen and Dobbs. In this article you said:
“Taken together, these two cases demonstrate that the Supreme Court has embraced the use of the Constitution as a tool of racial patriarchy.”
Did you say that?
“Yes,” replied Franks. Kennedy then read another previous quote from Franks.
“When the Supreme Court declares that there is a constitutional right to armed self-defense in public, it openly embraces and promotes a culture that privileges white men’s ability to terrorize and kill those that they perceive as threats.”
Did I read that correctly?
Franks replied: “I did. Thank you for reading it.”
Again, Kennedy quoted Franks:
“By simultaneously expanding white men’s right to kill and constricting women’s right not to die, this Supreme Court has turned the Constitution into a homicide pact as well.”
Did you write that?
Yep, of course she did, and she proudly admitted it.
Franks smirked and replied: “That sounds like me.”
After a bit of back-and-forth, during which Franks remained smug and defiant throughout, Kennedy quoted several of her past tweets, including:
The majority of Americans hate women more than they love anything, including democracy.
There’s a reason why the conservative-dominated Supreme Court paints the Constitution as [it] does not contain the right to an abortion. But it’s convinced that it contains an individual right to possess firearms. And that reason is white male supremacy.
As Franks continued to become even more defiant, Kennedy finally blistered her:
Here’s what I’m saying: ‘Curb my nausea.’
With that, Sen. Kennedy’s time expired, but not until he totally exposed Franks — to whom he frustratingly referred to as “an officer of the court “— as the radical leftist activist she is.

The Bottom Line
While Professor Mary Anne Franks might be irrelevant in a larger sense, she quintessentially represents an untold number of other radical law professors who believe exactly as she believes, who also do their radical-leftist best to indoctrinate America’s law students in unbridled hatred, not only of “white males” and “white supremacy,” but also against the United States Constitution, the U.S. Supreme Court, and America itself.
