Joe Biden and Kamala Harris got around to going to North Carolina and Georgia on Wednesday to review the damage from Hurricane Helene.
But in the face of all the devastation that has happened in the region, what Harris had to say seemed to be pitifully lacking.
Just as Biden did in Maui after the huge fire there when he promised $700, Harris promised a paltry sum of $750 payment to people, some of whom may just have lost everything.
If you lost your home, that would barely pay for a few days in a hotel and food for a family. And you can apply for it online, she said. Assuming you had power.
Many sounded off on this statement from Harris, raising questions like how much money has been given to Ukraine? Or to all kinds of services and assistance for illegal aliens? $750 is a pittance by comparison.
Meanwhile, Biden, the generally absent leader, was in North Carolina. Watch how slow he is taking his seat, while all around him are moving at normal speed.
Then it was shameful that he used the hurricane to attack any American who didn’t hew to his climate chance cult mantra.
He should be concentrating on helping people, not pushing his political agenda. Imagine Biden calling anyone else braindead. By the way, this is the same line that he delivers after every hurricane.
But then Biden said something else that took some nerve. He spoke about directing Starlink systems to help communication in the affected areas.
Biden’s FCC revoked the SpaceX Starlink award, or the systems could have been in place to help out already, Elon Musk said.
And what about the $42 billion for the broadband initiative to help rural areas? The Biden-Harris team hasn’t connected anything yet.
Trump spoke about the great need to Musk and Musk said they were deploying more systems to areas of need.
Ivanka Trump was among the people helping provide some of the systems.
Good for Trump, Elon Musk, Ivanka and others for getting it all together for the people who need it.
