It’s taken a while, but actor Alec Baldwin is finally on trial this week for involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins on the movie set Rust.
Earlier in the week, we reported on some of the motions that were decided in the matter including the judge’s decision that Baldwin being a co-producer wasn’t relevant to the case. That was a big win for Baldwin in the case since that could go to further knowledge of safety issues on the set.

But during the trial on Thursday, there was a truly wild moment from Baldwin. The prosecutor was reading some embarrassing things he said to a detective in the court and talking about his motivation to lie. Baldwin in the remarks was upbraiding the detective saying the detective lived a very “narrow life.” The video showed Baldwin sitting there, rocking back and forth and obviously fuming. Watch what happens next and the reaction of his attorney.
He just gets up and walks out, and his attorney’s stunned reaction is priceless as he tries to figure out what’s going on.
Stalking out tends not to be a good look when you’re on trial. No, you can’t just get up and leave whenever you feel like it when you are on trial. If he had an emergency, he should have asked his attorney to ask for a recess.
Fortunately for him, the jury was out at that moment in the trial so they didn’t see him behave like an idiot.
The armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed is supposed to testify on Friday for the prosecution.
Meanwhile, people have noticed Baldwin has had his family there.
According to Court TV’s Matt Johnson Baldwin and his wife have an upcoming reality show and they are shooting it in the town while the trial is on.
“The optics make him look like a family man, an everyday person and also someone who wants to convey that they’re innocent,” Johnson tells Inside Edition. “He is shooting a reality show here, one can only think this is going to be one of those episodes.”
How gross can you get? Again, not a good look.
Attorney Gloria Allred, who is representing Hutchins’ mom and sister, ripped the actor for announcing the TV project ahead of the trial and questioned whether he and his wife were trying to promote the new venture with their public appearances in Santa Fe.
“It appears to me to be a very cynical, calculated public relations move to possibly have an impact on the jury or the jury pool, to try to get sympathy for Alec Baldwin, and that’s why he not only brought his baby but allowed his baby to be taken from the car and photographed,” she said.
