New York Attorney General Letitia James is taking a break from chasing Donald Trump to hold a taxpayer-funded “Drag Story Hour” on March 19. Per the NY Post:
James and a string of fellow elected Democratic city and state leaders plan to attend Sunday’s event in the West Village where “families with children” are invited to watch drag performers read books over a four-hour stretch.
The AG’s March 19 event is co-sponsored by Drag Story Hour NYC — a nonprofit that has been showered in taxpayers funds, which has enabled them to send drag performers into public schools and libraries to interact with children as young as 3.
Our taxpayer dollars at work, people.
Now, however, the popular account Libs of TikTok (LOTT) and its owner Chaya Raichik are fighting against this madness by offering their own counter-programming:
NY AG Letitia James is hosting a drag story hour for kids this Sunday. I decided to host my own story hour down the street from hers!
Protect your kids and come hear an important message at an event that’s actually family friendly.

Well played, LOTT, well played.
Letitia James’ read-a-thon—which does, incidentally sound like a drag—is described by organizers as “best suited for children up to age 12” and will be held at the LGBTQ Center in the West Village area of Manhattan. The announcement drew widespread outrage, with former Trump spokesman Steve Cortes tweeting, “This kind of explicit targeting of children is just evil.”
Republican New York Councilwoman Vickie Paladino meanwhile was booted from the chamber’s mental health committee last week for her opposition to the event. She appeared on Newsmax Thursday to express her disgust, saying the situation is “out of control”:
BOILING POINT: NYC Council fuming because Councilwoman Vickie Paladino refuses to fund “Drag Queen Story Hour” in her district. In 2022, the city spent $200,000 on the program. LOTT’s event, in contrast, will not host men dressed as women dancing around suggestively with children but will instead focus on the reading of books that are actually appropriate for kids. It will also take place in Manhattan, at the Women’s National Republican Club, and will run at the exact same time as the Attorney General’s. The Washington Examiner describes what to expect:
Raichik to host a competing story hour where she will read her own book, “No More Secrets: The Candy Cavern.” Her event flier even mirrors the design of the drag queen story hour. She will be joined by Brave Books CEO and author Trent Talbot to read “Fight for Freedom Island.” BRAVE Books is a conservative children’s book publisher creating books to “empower your children against woke culture.”
During the story time, Raichik also plans to host a talk for parents and children about how to spot predatory behavior.
The two shows will take place as drag story hours have been constantly in the news since they first started cropping up in 2017. Some Republican-led states, including Arkansas, want to ban such shows from public property. Just this week, as RedState’s streiff reported, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is moving to strip the prestigious Hyatt Regency Miami Hotel of its liquor license after it allowed children to attend an alcohol-fueled drag queen show. Earlier this month Tennessee passed a bill requiring organizers of such shows on public property to shield them from the view of children.
I keep hearing leftist politicians saying that conservatives are extremists and that we’re making this stuff up, but the sexualization of children is clearly happening right in front of our eyes—and in the case of the NYC drag story hour, with the full backing of Democrat politicians. The fact that we’re even debating this nonsense shows you how far our culture has fallen.
Imagine if I sponsored a “Bikinis ‘N Books Read-A-Thon for Kids!” hour at the local library. The backlash would be immediate, deserved, and harsh. How about a Republican state attorney general organizing a “Lingerie Children’s Hour,” where scantily clad females read books aloud while twerking? That’s essentially what’s occurring at these drag shows, but somehow it’s okay because they’re men dressed as women.
And what’s a state attorney general doing inserting herself into children’s story hours? Is that somewhere in the job description because she’s rooted out all crime in NY?
I love LOTT’s counter-programming to the drag story hour. Chaya Raichik is showing us how we fight back.
