For those of you like me, you’ve never really been a fan of New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. Oh, you might have been impressed with her courage, her fire, and the youth that makes one of the more attractive lawmakers in Congress at present. But we all quickly learned that her brand of fire is not what this nation needs right now, not ever, in fact.
So when events like Elon Musk’s complete trashing of her this week happen, we can’t help but smile at her misfortune. If you didn’t hear about it, let me brighten your day a bit.
As you know, Musk has recently taken over Twitter and is now going to make it something to subscribe to, as in you pay a subscription fee as you do with Netflix, Hulu, etc.
AOC, apparently, doesn’t like that idea. After all, she was recently caught complaining about how high rent was for her and her partner, despite earning an income most of us could only dream of. So, of course, the extra $8 a month Musk charges will put her in the red.
As she wrote on Twitter, “Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that ‘free speech’ is actually an $8/mo subscription plan.”
Musk’s response was fire.
“Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8.”
Classic Musk. Now, the sparring between the two has continued, with AOC being put in her place repeatedly.
But it’s important to point out at this time that Musk is not the only one dogging on so-called ‘squad’ members.
In fact, all over the nation, and more specifically in her own state and party, it seems she’s losing the support that once made her one of the progressives’ most beloved. Well, the truth of the matter is she’s been losing support pretty much ever since she got elected to her first congressional term. But now, that lack of support is really starting to show and be heard.
For instance, a recent airing of a Thursday morning ‘Fox & Friends First’ showed evidence that even those within her own party, her own community, and even her own race are no longer supporting her.
The morning show interviewed Reverend Ruben Diaz Sr., a New York state senator who once very much approved of AOC and what she supposedly stood for. However, he says he lost his respect for her long ago, and she’s never gained it back.
As he told Fox News, “She lost me a long time ago when she opposed the 25,000 jobs that Amazon wanted to bring to New York.”
In truth, she likely lost a lot of people with that move. If you didn’t know, the online retail giant had seriously considered and even began negotiating to buy property in NYC and make their headquarters there.
This was shortly after AOC was elected into office. But because she is a socialist who is against corporate America and its benefits, she opposed the move quite strongly. Strongly enough, in fact, that Amazon folded on the deal and decided to stay out of New York.
As Diaz mentioned, the move would have brought at least 25,000 jobs to the city, as well as untold revenue.
And since then, she hasn’t redeemed herself in the slightest. In fact, according to Diaz, she and her ilk have only made things worse.
“(Progressives) were releasing criminals into the streets, favoring the open borders, allowing all kinds of people to come through the borders without checking. She opposes the police officers in the subways….”
And as Diaz points out, it’s not just him who no longer supports AOC. As president of New York’s Hispanic Clergy Organization, he says that much of the Hispanic community no longer does either. In fact, despite himself and much of his community being registered Democrats, far and wide, the community is shifting and voting for those in the GOP.
Diaz and others have actually even been campaigning for or at least encouraging others to vote for AOC’s direct opposition.
As he says, it’s “time to fire” AOC, and it seems that much of New York just might be on board with that.
But, she got re-elected. Either US citizens are voting for her/these Democrats for tribal reasons or they just can’t get themselves to vote Republican after hearing a continual stream of slander from that party. None of these people give a damn about the policies or positions of any of these politicians. Things will just have to go in the toilet in a big way before anything changes. Once it starts *really* hurting, only then will they vote for the adults in the room.
