You know the ratings are pretty low when the left-leaning media network CNN finally acknowledges the border crisis and calls Biden out on his presidency. Reporter Priscilla Alvarez shared on the show that more than 19,000 unaccompanied migrants were encountered in July, which surpasses the March record. The Biden Administration seems to be grappling with a problem that is only growing.
“It is remarkably high, especially in the summer months where we normally see a decline. This is a crisis of their own making,” Alvarez said.
Alvarez notes that it usually slows down in June because of the summer heat during crossings.
CNN’s Chris Cillizza also noted the surge of the delta variant, as Biden faces an average of 85,000 cases of COVID-19 a day in the country. He said Biden was having “the worst week of his presidency” and that the presidential honeymoon is over. The White House announced on Monday that they reached their goal of getting at least 70% of U.S adults partly vaccinated, which is still a month late from Biden’s projected July 4th deadline.
Back in May, President Joe Biden announced a “vaxxed or masked” post on Twitter, which claims that if you’re fully vaccinated you no longer need to wear a mask. He referred people to the vaccine government website to find shots in your local area. He took a sharp turn from his own announcement after the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention announced that vaccinated individuals should wear masks. They cited the surge in Delta variant cases as the reason.
“Everything — and I mean EVERYTHING — flows from the Covid news. And the truth is that Biden’s ability to change the current story on COVID-19 in this country is decidedly limited. What does the future — or, at least, the next few weeks — hold for Biden? The honest answer is no one knows,” Cillizza said.
Some Biden officials have even noted concerns that Biden’s flip-flop on masks could cause all of the vaccine progress they made to be flushed down the drain. There has been political debate over the updated health policies, with two administration officials noting that the vaccine works against the rise of the delta variant.
Even when you do have breakthrough infections, less than 1% are resulting in hospitalizations or severe cases, and the mortality rate is effectively zero. Maybe focus on that instead of trying to write the worst possible headline,” one official went on to say.
Another official adds that the updated mask mandates spark confusion regarding the vaccine, especially the remaining sizable portion of the public who have not been vaccinated yet. They said that the “mixed messaging” coming from the President could cost the 2022 midterm elections.
Republican strategist Andrew Surabian pointed out that Biden promised back in October 2020 that he would “shut down the virus, not the country.” If you fast forward 10 months, Biden is warning people about lockdowns and instituting more mask mandates. He has bypassed science because he can’t quit the political power that comes with “fear.”
The Delta Variant has become the new “fear” and Dems won’t give it up anytime soon. You know things are really going against the grain of science when even CNN calls it out.
