Biden Officials Pressured Facebook To Censor Trump Account Before Election

Emails have recently resurfaced showing Joe Biden campaign officials pressuring Facebook staff to censor their opponent, former President Donald Trump. They specifically wanted Facebook to censor the Team Trump account ahead of the 2020 presidential election. While mainstream media outlets called this proof of “violent rhetoric” on Trump’s part, others said it was evidence that Biden tried to influence the election on the world’s biggest social media platform.

According to the report from Biden officials, they claimed Trump was running an “uncooperative” Facebook page and that they were worried about misinformation. One of the examples they brought up was a video posted by Team Trump showing Donald Trump Jr. He was accusing Democrats of trying to rig the election and called on Trump supporters to oppose this.

“The radical left are laying the groundwork to steal this election from my father. Their plan is to add millions of fraudulent ballots that can cancel your vote and overturn the election,” Trump Jr. said.

Facebook introduced a set of rules which would play “information labels” on content that seeks to delegitimize the outcome of an election or discuss the legitimacy of voting methods. While they slapped a warning label on the Trump Jr. video, that was not enough for Biden campaign officials and they criticized the company again for failing to remove it ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

A senior Biden campaign official wrote in another letter to Facebook on September 22, warning Facebook that the video violates Facebook’s policies that prohibit “voter suppression.” They implored Facebook to look at the video again with “a sense of mission.”

“The fact that this video is still on your platform — and is being used to recruit some sort of, and I quote, ‘army for Trump’s election security effort’ — is astounding. It is impossible to reconcile this with any of the policies regarding voting and voter suppression that Facebook has released over the past 3 years and emphasized to us privately in several dozen conversations,” the Biden official wrote.

Facebook pushed back and said that the video does not violate any of its policies and that they cannot remove it. But the senior Biden official doubled down and insisted that the “shrieks of fraud compound” and “calls to enlist” will multiply. The official said they “struggled to believe” that is the precedent Facebook is intending to set.

“If the effort and mental gymnastics undertaken to allow this post to remain on your platform were instead devoted to carrying out your acknowledged responsibility to democracy, we might see some progress,” the official concluded.

Biden campaign officials continued to complain that the platform was doing nothing to crack down on “misinformation” on their platform, but Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone pushed back and bragged about every conservative the platform silenced.

“We banned hundreds of militarized social movements, took down tens of thousands of QAnon pages, groups, and accounts from our apps, removed the original #StopTheSteal Group, labeled candidates’ posts that sought to prematurely declare victory, and suspended former President Trump from our platform for at least two years,” Stone said.

Naturally, CNN and other mainstream media outlets blamed Facebook for not suppressing and censoring information because it allowed protesters to plan the January 6 breach in Washington DC.

The mainstream media went from blaming conservative-friendly platforms like Parler and Gab, back to blaming Facebook. The hypocrisy never ends. They just want conservative content banned and blacklisted wherever they can. More proof that the media’s biggest enemy is the truth, including freedom of speech.
