How Tim Scott’s Comments Prompted A ‘Woke’ War

TakeCharge Minnesota, a Minnesota school choice movement founded in the Black community, recently challenged the “woke” culture narrative that America is a systemically racist nation and that societal structures were designed to undermine the lives of Black Americans. The group said their objective was not to undermine Black Americans but inspire and educate the Black community to take charge of their own lives, as well as their families and communities, according to the rights fully granted to them in the Constitution.

The organization is run by Kendall Qualls, a former U.S army officer, and high-ranking executive of Fortune 100 healthcare companies. He shared in a recent Q&A interview that he found it “insulting” to hear that Black people can’t get ahead because of systemic racism and said they should be embracing the core principles of America – not rejecting them.

“We acknowledge that racist people exist in the country, but explicitly reject the notion that the United States of America is a racist country. This is a subtle, but significant difference! We also denounce the idea that the country is guilty of systemic racism, white privilege and abhor the concept of identity politics and the promotion of victimhood in minority communities,” the group states.

TakeCharge lists some of their core values online and that the belief of hard work, education, faith, family, and free enterprise “can be realized by anyone regardless of race or social standing.” They said they choose to empower Black Americans to reject dependency on government and embrace the American dream instead.

“TakeCharge Minnesota strives to unite Americans regardless of background toward a shared history and common set of beliefs. We celebrate the successes of all who have achieved the American dream while encouraging people still working to achieve it,” the group asserts.

The site states their top five principles including the promise of keeping America open and available to all individuals regardless of skin color, allowing the private sector and free enterprise to be the fastest and most financially rewarding route to a better life, having a quality education, restoring the two-parent Black family, and that the first duty of government is to ensure the public safety of its citizens.

The comments came after Republican Sen. Tim Scott, one of the only three Black members of the Republican Party in Congress, delivered the GOP’s response to President Joe Biden’s Wednesday night speech to Congress. He emphasized during the speech that “America is not a racist country” and says that the debate over discrimination in the U.S should be over how they resolve issues going forward. He said the Democrats’ solution of “taking from some to give to others” doesn’t work and that fighting bigotry with bigotry is just hypocrisy.

Sen. Scott’s comments prompted a backlash from radical leftists, including a trending Twitter “Uncle Tim” phrase, which was a play on the subservient “Uncle Tom” character from the Civil War-era novel “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.” Twitter let the phrase trend for a whopping 12 hours on its platform before blaming an “algorithm” for why it took them so long to remove it. Democrats claim that Scott’s denial of American racism is “triggering” and accused him of trying to maintain the white supremacist status quo.

Fox News’s Sean Hannity criticized far-leftists for attacking Scott with a “stream of nasty, racist, despicable comments” on America being a racist country and said they are the very same people who are insulting Scott with smears and slander.

“The people lecturing America all the time, that America is a racist country filled with racist people, racist institutions, racist police, racist conservatives, the very same people who rushed on to Twitter last night, national TV insulting Senator Tim Scott with vile smears and slander,” Hannity said.

The “woke” agenda isn’t responsible for fighting social justice or uniting all Americans – it’s responsible for the divisive tactics used to divide Americans and suppress every issue under the lens of race. To the left, the word “racist” is used to describe anything they don’t agree with.
