Twitter Lets Racial Slur About GOP Senator Trend For 12 Hours

Twitter recently allowed a racial slur about Sen. Tim Scott, the only Black Republican senator, to trend on its platform for 12 hours, before deciding to step in and stop the comments. He was attacked as “Uncle Tim” for saying “America is not a racist country” in his GOP response to President Biden’s first joint address. “Uncle Tim” refers to the character “Uncle Tom” in the novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin, where Tom is portrayed as an overly subservient character.

Sen. Scott delivered his rebuttal to President Biden’s joint address and blasted Democrats for focusing on controversial issues without working with Republicans. He also talked about the radical left attacks and misinformation surrounding Georgia’s election laws, adding that the new laws would make it easier to vote early in Georgia than in “Democrat-run New York.” He said America is a country of redemption and not a fundamentally racist nation.

“Hear me clearly: America is not a racist country. It’s backward to fight discrimination with different types of discrimination, and it’s wrong to try to use our painful past to dishonestly shut down debates in the present,” Sen. Scott said.

But racial justice advocates and leftists argued that Sen. Scott was speaking in bad faith and trying to protect white supremacists. They tagged him with the label “Uncle Tim,” which soon reached the top of Twitter’s trending topics for twelve hours. Democrats, including Bree Newsome and Tariq Nasheed, claimed he was denying racism in the country and being incentivized as a “Black victim” to act as the crash test dummy for White supremacy. Some White progressives even used the term, including television personality Scott Nevins.

But Sen. Scott called the liberal attacks on Twitter “upsetting” and “disappointing.” He said that the ‘liberal oppression’ has doubled down on attacking the color of his skin instead of what he was actually saying. He adds that liberals have called him “Uncle Tom,” “Uncle Tim,” and the n-word, as well as a national left-wing newspaper suggesting that his family’s poverty was actually a privilege.

“Those people who want to be respected and given the opportunity to live their lives any way they want to, they don’t want the same thing for me and you. What they want for us is for us to stay in a little, small corner and not go against the tide that they think is America. Their America and my America aren’t the same America — if in fact they think that discriminating is the fastest way to end discrimination,” Sen. Scott said.

When conservative pundits reached out to ask Twitter why it took so long to block a phrase that “violated its policies,” a spokesperson said that the move was in line with their Trend policies to “promote healthy conversations on Twitter” and blamed an algorithm for allowing “Uncle Tim” to trend.

“This algorithm identifies topics that are popular now, rather than topics that have been popular for a while or on a daily basis, to help you discover the hottest emerging topics of discussion on Twitter,” Twitter explained.

But Big Tech has previously revealed its political bias. Last month, Twitter allowed a White Democrat House candidate to tweet a Ku Klux Klan hood photo to Black Conservative pundit Candace Owens. When Owens asked the Twitter Safety account to remove the post, they told her it didn’t violate the platform’s content rules. Owens later filed a police report.

Sooner or later, people will see that the ‘woke left’ are the people implementing systemic racism in the country. Democrats stoke racism because there’s money and votes to be gained. They’ve never tried to prevent it.
