While democratic politicians like Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer continue exploiting COVID-19 by ordering two-year-olds to wear masks and issuing endless government mandates, GOP governors claim that it’s time to roll back on governmental rules and move forward to get the economy back on track. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan joined other states and announced that masks will no longer be required outdoors effective immediately and all outdoor dining restrictions will be lifted effective Saturday, May 1.
Gov. Hogan announced that masks will still be required at all indoor public and private businesses, but that all mask mandates and capacity restrictions related to outdoor dining will be lifted. He notes that nearly 85% of Marylanders over 65 have been vaccinated, as well as more than 60% of Marylanders 18 and older.
“We expect to be able to take additional actions in the weeks ahead and to return to a sense of normalcy. The fastest way to put this pandemic behind us once and for all is for every single eligible Marylander to get vaccinated as soon as possible,” Gov. Hogan said.
Gov. Hogan joins Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on their emphasis on getting citizens vaccinated while putting an end to government-mandated lockdowns and COVID-19 related restrictions. Gov. Ivey previously shared the frustrations of the American people over the past year and the constantly changing goalposts of the radical left. She shares that the country has been handling the virus for more than a year now and that politicians must begin letting residents and businesses make their own decisions.
Louisiana is also loosening many COVID-19 mitigation restrictions, including eliminating the statewide mask mandate. Gov. John Bel Edwards recently announced that the state will lift the limits on the number of people who can gather outdoors, as well as letting indoor event organizers operate at 75% occupancy or full occupancy with masks.
Gov. Roy Cooper also made the announcement that North Carolina is going to drop the requirement for wearing masks outdoors, which will be effective as of April 30. He also shared that indoor gatherings can increase to 100 people and outdoor gatherings to 200.
Blue states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York, however, have some of the highest COVID-19 positivity rates despite stricter limits on businesses and activity. There has been no scientific evidence to back up the correlation between COVID-19 related restrictions and the spread of the virus.
Critics have asked why radical left politicians have continued to keep these policies, especially since the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) officially pulled back guidance recommending vaccinated individuals wear masks outdoors. Scientists have found that fresh air disperses and dilutes the virus and that the risks are low in fully open spaces.
With President Joe Biden’s first 100 days in office almost up, his executive order that requires masks on all federal property, indoors and outdoors, is almost up too. While he is expected to lift the outdoor mask mandate, critics have argued that there is no reason for vaccinated adults to continue wearing masks and keeping their distance. He shared that you can go without a mask outdoors but that masks are still required in crowded spaces.
Two epidemiologists, Kate Grabowski and Justin Lessler, found that the vaccine could reduce transmissions by more than 50% and argued that Biden should encourage fully vaccinated people to take off their masks for good, outdoors and indoors.
While red states continue to encourage people to make their own personal health decisions, the radical left wants the CDC to dictate everyone’s livelihood. Blue states are full of mask mandates, scared people, rising cases, and an economy in the tank. Red states are letting people live their lives, cases are falling the economy is thriving, and people are making their own decisions. This was all about power and control, but as the days go by, Dems can no longer maintain the narrative without the numbers to back it up.
