AOC Blames Winter Storms On Failing To Sign Green New Deal

Facts continue to contradict Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her bizarre claims that the Texas power outages are due to the state’s failure to sign her Green New Deal Policy. She was responding to Gov. Greg Abbott who criticized solar panels and wind turbines for failing in his state during the cold winter. She blamed Republicans instead for failing to regulate power companies and claimed that her “clean energy” agenda would’ve prevented the whole winter storm in the first place.

“The infrastructure failures in Texas are quite literally what happens when you *don’t* pursue a Green New Deal. Weak on sweeping next-gen public infrastructure investments, little focus on equity so communities are left behind, climate deniers in leadership so they don’t long prep for disaster. We need to help people *now.* Long-term we must realize these are the consequences of inaction,” AOC tweeted.

“Fox & Friends” co-host Will Cain pointed out that the Texas government has invested over $19 billion in green energy projects and has been subsidizing billions of dollars into wind energy for quite some time now. Over-reliance on wind power led to a massive overload in the system when temperatures dropped into the single digits. Cain pointed out that Texans had to use other forms of energy, such as coal and nuclear power, to stabilize the grid.

“So, if you’re going to prepare for the future and you’re going to prepare for a cataclysmic event, what do you need to invest in? Do you invest in subsidizing wind or do you subsidize insulating your natural gas pipelines? Do you subsidize storage at on-site facilities?” Cain asked.

He accused AOC of pressuring people to subsidize the wrong things. “The point is…help what you know you can count on: base power, natural gas, oil, and gas,” Cain continued. He shows that the Green New Deal would be deadly for the United States and says Texas has been blessed with multiple sources of energy such as natural gas and nuclear.

AOC continued to argue on social media that a “system of inequality” is responsible for some being without power. But others pointed out that a ‘better infrastructure’ is not what happens when a once-in-a-century winter storm blows through the state. Podcaster Tim Pool even tweeted in response, “The failure in Texas is what happens when a place that doesn’t normally get extreme winter weather fails to winterize gas lines and wind turbines. AOC and conservative outrage are what happens when both sides see a way to push an agenda.”

Leave it to the Democrats to blame a winter storm on systems of inequality and refusing to sign the Green New Deal. These so-called ‘energy alternatives’ are what failed Texas in the first place.
